700 Hours of Extra Time for Customers

HAVI Logistics supplies OMV

Since mid-2010 HAVI Logistics has been supplying VIVA shops at OMV gas stations in Bulgaria and Slovakia. Tapping into these two markets marked a major milestone in the development of a successful international partnership with the new strategic customer.

In June and July of last year HAVI Logistics launched the test phase for supplying initially twelve Slovak and 13 Bulgarian VIVA shops belonging to the leading central European oil and gas conglomerate OMV. The HAVI Logistics teams delivered up to 1,400 different articles to the OMV filling stations.

As part of a new supply chain model for OMV - HAVI Logistics has assumed the role of partner in the middle between the suppliers and the customer's gas stations. The Customer Service departments look after the whole order. The teams in the warehouse and transport sectors process the orders, and organize storage and ultimately the delivery of the goods to a total of about 180 filling station shops in Bulgaria and Slovakia. OMV is in charge of conducting the price negotiations with the suppliers and determining the storage and delivery parameters. "We are proud to be supporting OMV as a strategic partner," says Haluk Ilkdemirci, President HAVI Logistics Europe.

The HAVI Logistics' "One-Stop Shopping" concept frees up valuable extra time for OMV staff. For the operators of the OMV gas stations, that means a bundled order for fresh, frozen and dry goods. There's just one delivery, just one bill, and therefore less paperwork. A delivery stop made by a HAVI Logistics truck lasts only 20 minutes; the order is brought into the warehouse in roll-cages, and then the employee in the gas station shop has 24 hours to check the delivery. The total time saved amounts to 700 hours for each gas station over the course of one year. This is valuable time that OMV staffers can use for doing other tasks - and thus for their core business.

Out-of-stock situations in the VIVA warehouses have been reduced by nine percent since HAVI Logistics took over deliveries. Furthermore, this has speeded up goods turnaround by three days. This not only represents an advantage for the operators of the OMV gas stations, but also raises the satisfaction of HAVI LOgistics' new partner's customers. "Not only does the model look good on paper - it also works in practice in exactly the way we imagined," says Elka Stankova, Project Manager at OMV. This is borne out by delivery reliability exceeding 95 percent and deliveries that follow the schedule provided - with a tolerance of only +/- one hour.  Praise also comes from Adrian Pribela, who runs an OMV gas station in Bratislava: "I now have more time for my customers and I know precisely when the goods are going to arrive."

"The strategic cooperation with HAVI Logistics enables us as OMV to implement the innovative premium concept that we pursue at our gas stations with the brand VIVA and which, in the eyes of our customers, clearly sets us apart from the competition, with a strong, international and reliable logistics partner. As a leading energy corporation in the European growth belt, we need a partner that supports us in optimizing the supply chain in the non-oil business. We are delighted to have found such a partner in HAVI Logistics.”
Klaus Jürgen Schneider, Director of OMV's International Filling Station Business
